That is true.

But cable will dominate its service territories where ever it is offered. Talk about its drawbacks is misinformed. Even if DSL matches the speed I find it hard to imagine it will match the price. The telcos would be slitting their own throats.

As has been stated repeatedly, as a client-server solution BT is inherently connection-independent. I see no reason why it could not be extended to mux over cable or any other IP-based connection as the market matures. Obviously POTS will remain the dominant connection mode (especially for the road warrior) for some years to come, but since when has any technology stood still?
