I could not access the ft comment but let me say that I watch fast money half time pretty diligently and I have found her picks and comments far better than those of anyone else on the show. I ignored her picks several times to the detriment of my portfolio so when she prefers xom to chevron that carries a lot of weight. I know you like examples so GE and META come to mind. Since I am not trying to hit home runs but singles. If I can purchase companies that can generate 10% returns or better with minimal risk I am happy.

All they care about is drilling and producing oil. No conservatism or care for shareholders. It's like Darren Woods didn't learn the lessons from the 2010s.
LOl. What do you expect an energy company to do? Exploring and producing oil is their business. They do pay a nice dividend and buy back some stock. Looks like they generate about 20% return on invested capital this year which at a PE of 10 is twice the return they get from buybacks. So investing in production seems to make perfect sense relative to buybacks.

XOM has one of the best production growth profiles besides TTE amongst the big oil. Much us due to their huge find in Guyana.

Re: Devon Energy Corp (DVN) - started tracking position

Started a small tracking position in this NG/Oil domestic driller.

Devon Energy, based in Oklahoma City, is one of the largest independent exploration and production companies in North America. The firm's asset base is spread throughout onshore North America and includes exposure to the Delaware, STACK, Eagle Ford, Powder River Basin, and Bakken plays. At year-end 2021, Devon's proved reserves totaled 1.6 billion barrels of oil equivalent, and net production that year was 572 mboe/d (of which, oil and natural gas liquids made up 74% of production, with natural gas accounting for the remainder)
I like their domestic NG exposure (and reserves). PE 5.7x; pays a 4.4% dividend;

Peled off 25% of my OVV (The old ENCANA) that I bought 3/6/2020. I generated a 32% CAGR and even more on earlier sales this year.

My target for DVN is between $45 - $48 reversion to mean play or 71% return. Will add more shares every 5% lower.
