I take it you are not a fan of UBI (Universal Basic Income) payments for legal residents or giving cash cards to illegal immigrants so they can buy food.
I think every citizen and immigrant who resides in the US should pay at least $100.00 in taxes and it should be indexed to inflation.

Everyone who enjoys the world's largest economy should have skin in the game. Even those on Social Security.

The tax system and its earned income tax credit system very often returns more than put in.

All players need skin in the game!
Even worse is paying for people's mistakes such as paying $100K to get a degree that qualifies you to make $6 coffee. (ie paying off their student debt so they can keep their expensive iPhones and Netflix subscriptions.)

So much for spending $1.3T or so in the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) that seems to have been as "effective" (cough, cough) as the $24B we spent on "The Homeless Problem" in CA only to find out we have 175,000 of them, the same number of homeless as before we started spending the money.

CONSUMER PRICE INDEX - MARCH 2024

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.4 percent in March on a seasonally adjusted basis, the same increase as in February, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 3.5 percent before seasonal adjustment.

The index for shelter rose in March, as did the index for gasoline. Combined, these two indexes
contributed over half of the monthly increase in the index for all items. The energy index rose 1.1
percent over the month. The food index rose 0.1 percent in March. The food at home index was unchanged,
while the food away from home index rose 0.3 percent over the month.

The index for all items less food and energy rose 0.4 percent in March, as it did in each of the 2
preceding months
. Indexes which increased in March include shelter, motor vehicle insurance, medical
care, apparel, and personal care. The indexes for used cars and trucks, recreation, and new vehicles
were among those that decreased over the month.

The all items index rose 3.5 percent for the 12 months ending March, a larger increase than the
3.2-percent increase for the 12 months ending February.
The all items less food and energy index rose
3.8 percent over the last 12 months. The energy index increased 2.1 percent for the 12 months ending
March, the first 12-month increase in that index since the period ending February 2023. The food index
increased 2.2 percent over the last year.

Hi Bob,

The U.S. tax system is totally messed up!

It has basically become a welfare distribution system. Rob the rich & give to the poor.

Taxes should only be collected to pay for and maintain roads, airports, railways, government facilities, secure borders, defense of our nation, and for those with valid disabilities (must be a stringent validation process).

There should not be any corporate tax, it's just past on to the consumer.

There should only be 3 types of taxes, citizen tax (age 0 to 17), citizen tax (age 18 & older) & noncitizen tax. Everybody should pay. Every year by October 1st the government should pass a budget for what is needed to run the government for another year. On November 1st the tax rates for citizens & non citizens should be published. On December 1st a bill should be sent to every citizen for the tax they owe, to be paid by December 31st. Noncitizens must pay when they exit the U.S. for the total time of their stay. The citizen tax (age 0 to 17) would be paid by the parent or legal guardian.

Welfare should be handled through churches, & other not for profit organizations.

We should have government shelters (minimum amenities) to handle homeless people. They will work to earn their citizen tax.

It's a very straight forward simple process.

The IRS would be sending out the bills, collecting the taxes, and garnishing wages for those failing to pay.

You would not be allowed to vote if your citizen taxes were not paid.

Everybody needs to pay for the right to be in our country, even free loaders! You have the right to life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness.
