>>Yeah, I still remember him doing those Borax commercials. And my understanding is that he "made the transition" to TV chiefly because he wasn't being offered very many decent film roles anymore.

I see that having lost the "success" argument, you move on to what you think are insults.

Just when has adaptability become an impediment to success?

Btw, the Borax commercials came after RR parted with GE as a consequence of his political activity. He became host of Death Valley Days for a couple of years.

RR then became the most successful politician in the history of California and among the most successful in U.S. history.

Boy, too bad you don't get PBS. If you can, this Monday they will be broadcasting a new two part documentary on RR on The American Experience. From what I have heard, it would make you squeal.

>>We are not talking Laurence Olivier here<<

Janice, there are lot's of Olivier's in Hollywood that are waiting tables to pay the rent. If you don't care for RR acting skills, that's fine. But he was as Duncan stated a "successful" actor who made intelligent career moves which propelled him to further success in other fields. Surely you don't deny this. Film-making is a business and anyone who demonstrated the "staying power" of a RR in town where you are only as good as your last film, well, that is saying quite a bit. Go ask Kevin Costner...... bp
