But, some things will always be beyond respect of society. Boys having sex with their mothers, father's with their daughters, step children as well, and yes old men in positions of power and authority in particular with their underlings to mention a few.

Gee, Jim, your first two examples there are fairly good, because heck those taboo's mess with the gene pool. But that last one there I can't for the life of me remember that one as being a taboo in most any culture. Biologically speaking it may be one of the soundest strategies for keeping the species strong. So I can understand that you find it offensive from a moral point of view - personally on your part - but I think you may be over generalizing your values on the broad population, not only of this country but around the world. While there are many here that are most anxious to find any thread to weave the noose with, I think you should be trying to use stouter stuff. It would sound a little less self righteous.

Conflict of interest that you also mention, is certainly not good management practice, but is not in and of itself illegal between consenting adults, unless you are to paint Monica as a debauched innocent (read victim here). From the accounts that I have read, successful temptress may be more apt.

There has been so much partisan "fact finding" on all of this that I continue to keep an open mind about it. I don't by any means think that I have heard the whole truth in all of this from most any side. But with as much as I have heard on this, I don't even know a scintilla about her father, or his values, or his feelings for his children. Having not walked in his shoes, I have more than an open mind. I can't but believe if you were really reflective about this that you would wish others to judge you with more evidence than is in the public domain about Dr. Lewinsky, even within the context of all of these leaked facts.

Jim,

You left out a word in your post. It should have read "and yes old REPUBLICAN men in positions of power and authority in particular with their underlings to mention a few".

another neanderthal (and proud of it) embarrassed nah.

An older man having an affair with a younger woman is a far cry from incest. Happens all the time, and usually the reaction on the part of other men is admiration and envy.

I think Clinton was, if he did it, stupid. He lives an extremely public life, and someone was bound to find out. And of course his choice of woman--one who felt a pressing need to tell even casual acquaintances aboutit--was even stupider. But I don't feel he was taking advantage of an innocent, or doing her irreparable damage (had the whole thing not become media fodder). In the normal course, one party or the other would have become bored, and that would have been the end of it. Most people accept these things philosophically.

This is probably how Monica's father looks at it. Surely he knows his daughter, and is probably well aware that she did everything possible to attract Bill's attention. Had Jones's lawyers and Starr not come into the picture, the whole affair would have remained private; no harm done. And that's why he's furious at Starr: for having made a public show of his daughter's personal life. Not entirely logical--she bears a good deal of the blame for what happened, as well, but it's understandable.

You are right Jim.

We now know were Monica got her values. Her father is sick, disgusting, and reprehensible.

Btw, did you notice how both Walters and Downs both acknowledged that her father, the head cheese, was lying? They said that he would have been liable to be called before the Grand Jury if he had said that he and the Big Gulp had discussed the Clinton scandal.

Btw2, the man who is marrying the Big Gulp's mother - the noted actress Lewis - is R. Peter Strauss. When his first wife died, the man who gave the eulogy was none other than Vernon Jordon!
