<<Hope this helps>>

Yeah, thanks Stitch! If I didn't know better I'd think you were short the Indys. I honestly haven't read a more grim post in my short career here on SI. Man that's depressing.

Who does Trace supply? How big are they? They were 15% or $20mil of IVACs rev in 1997. If I add up all the IVAC sales to them I find around $35mil which might be 15 MDP lines... It's interesting that they spent $7mil in 96 with IVAC and $20mil in 97. Their expansion must have been pretty rapid last year just to sit idle now.

Excellent info- thanks. Still, the press release touts 10million in
5months, which is a pretty small number compared to 900million for the year. We all know the major portion of IBM MR heads are going into IBM drives.

For me, the disconcerting factor is the presence of IBM drives in OEM systems from the likes of HP. I don't think I'd want to buy and hold for five years the component suppliers, for the reasons you mention. There might be trading opportunities though.

Stitch, Any idea why none of these companies seeking to expand media production has acquired StorMedia at fire sale prices. Between that and loss of costomers it makes you wonder if the assets are first class in which case they woul seem a good acquisition candidate.
