Well said T. And the tariffs are paid for by the consumer. It does not go directly into the US Treasury as the Orange One so often states. That is all we need, a worldwide tariff war. Consumers lose if that is the case

I don't support the govt subsidizing chip companies. Not only is it an affront to taxpayers, but poorly run companies, like Intel, will just piss it away.

Also, I do not support the actual tariffs announced against Canada and Mexico. As a negotiating strategy, it works. But as a policy, it doesn't help the U.S.

In my opinion.

Incredible

Trump just shot the U.S. in the foot!

I guess he doesn't know that TSMC chips are in virtually all of our smartphones!

Not to mention laptops, iPads etc.

What a moron!

We want them to come back,” Trump said before slamming the US’s CHIPS and Science Act, which his predecessor President Biden signed to invest over $52 billion in domestic chip manufacturing.

Oxymoronic. Come back but I'll remove the incentive to come back...

The Chips Act was a good idea with dismal implementation. I'm not certain anyone has actually received any funding as of yet and I assume Trump will pull the plug anyway.

Gelsinger was gung ho to take advantage of the funding and believed Intel could catch up. The board apparently disagreed so I wonder if the US will have any homegrown semi tech in the next few years.

Ironically I was almost certainly hired into my present position to take advantage of the new semi opportunities because of the Chips Act. We're still waiting and I expect it will never happen. I'm not certain why they are still keeping me on board.
