Janice, that explains it. One listen is not enough to judge his show. The nuances of humor intertwined with serious discussion take some getting used to.

The reason Rush is so successful is because he is one of the few people who is not afraid to say things, on the air, which most Americans say across their dining room tables.

You don't have to agree with everything he says to appreciate that.

The print media over the last 15 years have gotten completely out of touch with the average American. Having such a disproportionate number of people from Ivy league schools on their editorial boards probably has allot to do with it. Their declining readership rate should give them pause and examination.

How can you relate to the average American when you grew up in Cambridge, went to Wellesly, and live in San Francisco or New York.
Not everyone of course, but I bet that's a typical profile of most writers at major newspapers. Most of them are from upper class families.

Radio, and in a few years places like this on the internet, are more likely going to be the best places to get a real perspective about how most Americans feel on issues.

When PC penetration rates reach 80% we may get the same kind of balance here as radio gets every day.

Can you imagine the kind of feedback major newspapers are getting via email from their internet sites. I bet it's quite shocking to those editors. :-)

By the way, Michael Medved is my favorite radio talk show host. He goes national in a couple of months. My prediction...his popularity will equal Rush's in a few short years. The guy has an awesome knowledge of history and it's has effects on public policy.

I hope you get a chance to give it a listen way out there in Italy.

Michael

Janice and Dwight Re-Limburgher. Late at night up here in Canada we are able to receive very clear radio signals from your side of the line.

I admit I have listened to Rosh Limbergher from time to time and found him to be very funny. I never took him seriously because I thought he was a Jewish comedian taking the mickey out of the Republican party.

Do you mean to tell me some Americans actually take that guy seriously. Weird!
