Jack Clarke said it best here, look at what they have gotten away with. Tail Gunner Joe was a fraud. At least we should credit Nixon for exposing him.

WAHHHHTTT??? Nixon WORKED for him. McCarthy was exposed (or deposed) as a result of pressure from a number of people, but the man who called him in public was Joseph Welch ("Sir! Have you no sense of decency?").
