Good afternoon, Bob. I have met many people who think as you do and I was one of them for a time. I became disenchanted with religion many years ago because of a mis-understanding about who Jesus really is and the type of relationship I need to have with Him.
I hope I have sufficiently burned out all the roots of learning imposed upon me by my well meaning relatives when I was growing up. It has been a struggle for sure.
None of us is really willing to accept another man's understanding of the triune God but through experience and a desire to know Him better we forge out a belief system that is free of guilt if we are seekers. My deepest wishes for you are that you are a seeker. And my spirit agrees with me that you will always be a seeker.
God bless you,
James

<I believe that Jesus was a great man. But, I only believe in one God, and I do not think that it is right to worship a man. What is right is to have a personal relationship with God.>

If you say you have a personal relationship with God but haven't received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior then I can only assume the god your serving is just a devil which has pulled the wool over your eyes. He has lied to you and you have bowed down to him.

Absolutely nobody comes into the presence of God if they have not put on the righteousness that only Christ can give. God is a Holy God and will not tolerate man's own righteousness in his presence. Anyone who comes before Him trusting in their own merits will be bound hand and foot and cast out of His Holy presence.

Think this day you will serve because your eternal destiny depends on it!!!
-Chris

Hi Bob,
I need to say a few things about Jesus Christ my Savior.

Philippians 2:5-11
5 Have this attitude in yourselves that was in Christ Jesus,
6 who, although He existed in the form of God, he did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but He emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
9 Therefore God also highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth,
11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Jesus was in heaven with God before He came to be a man on earth. He came here to do God the Father's will as His Son and by doing this reconcile mankind to God, all those who believe in Jesus as their Savior.

Acts 4:10-12
10 let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead- by this name this man stands here before you in good health.
11 He (Jesus) is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone.
12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.

The Deity of Jesus Christ

John 1:1-5;
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things came into being by Him; and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shines in the darkness; and the darkness did not comprehend it.

11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth was realized through Jesus Christ.
18 No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

From these scriptures we see Jesus revealed as God Himself who came to us in the form of a man. God the Father in heaven, God the Son who came to us and now sits at the right hand of the Father waiting the time to return again, and the Holy Spirit from God that dwells in all those who believe and have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Jesus is the only name appointed by which men must be saved.

In John 10:30 Jesus said this.

"I and the Father are one."

How can anyone be saved? Romans 10: 8-13

8 "But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH
AND IN YOUR HEART"- that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
9 that is if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your
heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved,
10 for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the
mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
11 For the scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE
DISAPPOINTED".
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is
Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call upon Him;
13 for,"WHOEVER WILL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL
BE SAVED".

Dear Robert:

Having read many of your posts here I agree with my Christian Brother James Garrett: that you are a seeker !

I admire you for that. It really takes a lot of fortitude and bravissimo to explore an interchange of concepts and ideas and experiences; even more so in the spiritual realm.

Having said that I will leave you to the very capable and often times astoundingly wise persons here on the Ask God thread.

Also I also want to thank the posters here who have discussed, angels, and Arch angels this week, I'm going to reread the posts this weekend. S H A L O M to all and to you Mr. Barry S H A L O M

To all: Have a great weekend, relax, take it easy, breathe 10 deep breaths to get that cleansing oxygen in and the impurities out and God Bless every area of your lives, In Christ...gregor

Just curious, how do you reconcile Jesus being a great man with his claims of being God? How/why would a great man say the following if it weren't true?

"I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him."

Cheers,

KMT

><>...Welcome back Robert...><>

It has been sometime since you were here last, it seems you have had a change of heart...?...If so Praise God, Praise God....It is a beginning...a good beginning

Robert you said:
" But, I only believe in one God, And.. But, to acknowledge other gods, such as an evil god - Satan, is self defeating....

Sometime back on Ask God you said there were many gods....Have you found some truths to the contrary my friend?...It seems as though you have.
___________
___________
As to Jesus the Christ:
Remember satan himself acknowledges Jesus as the Son of the Almighty.....also obeyd Him

Mark 5:5-13
5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God?.... I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

Not only does satan exist as only prince of this world, but he also recognizes Jesus as Lord.....

Good to hear from you again
Shalom...><>
BTW.....God in heaven, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Great I AM......did not create evil.!....satan, even satan was created by God my Father in perfect beauty...he was perfect in all his ways..until iniquity was found in him...Ez.28:15.....The lust for power was his demise!....Pride....oh how wretched a sin!..
