Peter - I want the pages to look like they did in the beginning.
Grey background, borders, dark numbers, etc.
It was much easier to read with these tired old eyes.

Could you at least make the numbers a little more bold?

Thanks.

Peter, it looks like you didn't have enough fun after last "survey".
Michael.

Peter, thank you for your reply. Nice to see that you actually read our comments - even if it's only from time to time. Well, with regards to what I specifically want right now is left alignment of the symbols. They are currently center aligned which makes it difficult to skim.

I also take the opportunity to point out the many comments you had on your survey here some weeks ago...

As to the near future, I would like to have a nice professional interface, for example like Web Street. You already agree they have a nice interface, why can't you make something like it.

Here are a few ideas for you:

1) A java applet for streaming quotes
2) ditto for realtime interday graphs
3) have you seen Mr Tara's excellent super-express access to Datek ? (http://stockclub.com/super_express/). Look and learn
4) A much more informative "portfolio screen", for example like the one provided by yahoo finance (giving up-to-date value for each stock in the portfolio, change in real and per cent.. you get the idea).

I could continue - I could even write you the specs AND implement it if you like, but since that how I make a living anyway I would have to charge you for it so you might prefer contracting somebody closer to you. Do make sure you hire somebody a bit more professional than the people you had making the last changes ... the number of bugs the site went live with is nothing to be proud of!

Rene

PS. You spent some time explaining about performance etc... You will notice I didn't mention nor complain about that in my last message.

Peter,

Great job on the Datek server performance. Thanks.

However, I do support EVERY point that Rene Madsen
has just made, ie. left alignment of symbols,
streaming quotes, real time intraday graphs...

By the way, why not limit the above features, like
the real time intraday graphs to PAYING customers?
It would off load your systems, same even for the
real time quotes Datek is so famous for. "Free"
to anybody was fine, but by now you should have
enough TRADING customers that you don't need to
supply free services to everybody at the expense
of system response with these NEW and NEEDED self-
updating quotes and graphs. Please... ?

And left alignment, why not just do it, and also
"throw in" the "-" in front of the red = negative
changes for quotes ?

Thanks for listening to us.

/Piotr

Peter, I think the main complaint about the interface change is CHANGE. We are very busy people and we just don't like our framework to change, even if the change is an improvement! The solution is to NEVER change an existing interface but put new features in new interfaces and allow us to migrate at our option. Don't delete an existing interface until it has zero users.

Peter,

Congrats, Barron's ranked Datek site top third [?], four stars out of four!

To improve the site, I have one suggestion:

Could you please make it possible for us to see our purchasing power at the order line. That is, put an item [purchasing power] next by item [choose an action] so that we need not jump back and forth to get our purchasing power when we make an order. our changing purchasing power has given me problem several times because when i entered an order, a rejection came back you are 100 bucks short. order cannot be entered. 100 bucks short, big deal.

Why can't you offer stop orders on NYSE?

where is our option trading?

Can we do IPO's?

Thanks.

Dear Peter,

In your post to Rene you said to offer alternatives and you will review them. I am very happy with my Datek service and I like your new Datek page(unliked many on this thread). However, there is one item that would still be nice to have and make trading much simpler. That is a Fill or Kill/All or None option. I know it has been requested on this thread at least 100 times, so I assume there is a valid reason you do not offer it. Please enlighten us.
Glad to see check writing available very soon.
Keep up the good work.
Brian

Peter, thanks for reading our comments. Others have made some good suggestions. I would also like to make a few suggestions:

1. Add the open price to the quotes. This is important for daytrading.
2. When going to the quotes screen, the quotes of the already entered symbols should be displayed instead of having to click the quotes button again. That would be more efficient as the server would only have to process one request instead of two.
3. I also would like to see realtime intraday graphs. But the graphs and other services which could impact performance should be run on separate servers from the trade order servers.
4. Being able to change an order instead of cancelling and reentering would also be more efficient for the trader and the servers.
5. You can use frames to keep the order entry form always on display.

thanks...tai

Hello Peter,

I have a suggestion for Datek Online(I have been a subscriber for about 6 months now and have been mostly happy) quotes page.

Is it possible to display the nasdaq and the Dow Jones numbers on the quotes and stock page. I really like the Motley fool page which shows these numbers and also the most active 50 stocks. Being logged on to the Datek page, I have no way of knowing how the market is doing in general (Or am I missing something!).

Thanks
Arvinder

It's not fixed yet...

Even discounting the more rabidly vengeful among us, it seems to me that when knowledgeable daytraders like B. Payne indicate their intent to leave Datek at least in part because they will not accept its 9:30-10/late afternoon performance, that amounts to a valid red flag.

Datek is, in my opinion, still too often slow and/or unreliable during these "prime times."

I know you are aware of this; thank you for addressing it, (I think it has been improved); I'm sure you can fix it.

Trading at other times, and everything else online, is working fine, for me, except for the annoyance of Hi-Lo and Gain-Loss columns that are too often unconnected to reality.

So, overall, I'm pleased. But best to fix things, I think, before you go public.
