BRAVO,

I could not have set it better. I am a large holder of
SUNW. When CPQ went to 30 I told my broker I would buy if it went to
25. He said g-d forbid it will go that low. Well it did and I bought.

Could be the buy of a lifetime at 25. If it sells off a little
more I'll buy more.

feargreed... WELCOME TO THE CPQ THREAD!

"feargreed"......I've heard that before.....hmm...

I hope you realize that your "Thread Birthday" is
FRIDAY THE 13th. <ggg>

I believe your second to last sentence, not to be
your opinion, but that what you feel has been stated by
some people on this thread. (use "" to indicate)

Please, do not paint everyone with the same brush.
Some people might even share some of your views,
although they might choose different ways of expressing
themselves.

You have certainly made your entrance...so...Welcome!

Hey don't look at me, don't recall saying any of these stuff you enumerate. However I do believe DELL will the one to beat when it comes to the following:-

1.Shareholder value.
2.Growth,sequential or YOY.
3.Return on invested capital.
4.Flawless execution.
5.Cost advantage.

etc etc etc....

That doesn't mean Compaq is a 'light weight' or anything like that, and that is with DEC or without DEC.Good company, good long term prospects good products,'smooth' management etc etc, so there you happy now.

Feargreed,

you are obviously very emotional about this stock, and seem very angry at Dell. Did Dell do something to you when you were a young child to warrant this hostility

Now that you have vented some of your anger, let me ask you three very simple questions

1) What is CPQ going to do with the 300,000 MMX units they have stuck in the channel that corp america does not want?

2) What are they going to do to avoid this from happening again?

3) Now that "that cheap conveyor belt" company called Dell is the number 2 supplier of servers to corp america, what is CPQ going to do to defend their high margin server business. They have built their financial model on these high margins. Just for fun let's say Dell continues to grow in the server space at only 75% of their current rate. Apply the resulting server CPQ market share to CPQs proforma income and you will have one of the reasons the stock is trading at 25. (add inventory problems, and DEC deal to the list and you will have fairly complete list of reasons)

I anxiusly await to hear your answer to these questions. And if yo can answer please also call Eckhard ASAP, cause he is tossing and turning and his bed trying to come up with the answers to these and many other tought questions

Jason

well i am learning to be an investor and like to look for a good price to inititiate a position......CPQ will be fine, however short term things look rocky, so i will be patient and wait...

i dont think any "investor" thinks any 1 stock is going to be their "ticket"

an awful lot of things can happen waiting for 1st quarter 99

6000 shares are alot, but it certainly doesnt seem like yoru sleeping with "cheer" in your stomach or you wouldnt be writing such an angry post.

im sure you have plenty to buy more shares if it dips below 25....load up with another 6000 shares

dont know who ever said computers are going away

i think the merger is great....but it is not encouraging to hear store employees bashing CPQ.....what a pain it is with all the returns, difficult to upgrade.......as bad a Packard Bell/NEC used to be

feargreed,
Backed up the truck Monday and purchased one fourth of a load for $25. Also have some shares that split twice. May or may not happen again. However, this is a good company with a great price in a general market that is over valued.
Welcome to the thread.
