I'm sorry, Bob, but the more we discuss this the more confused I get. I will just try to explain what I believe about Clinton and feminists, and then you can draw your own conclusions.

My understanding is that Clinton's power base in the electorate is women. Larger percentages of women than men voted for him, and as a group they are more tolerant of his alleged misbehavior, according to the polls I read, at least. Many commentators believe that women, particularly feminists, have been afraid to criticize him because in the arena of feminist issues and advocacy, he is their guy. In fact, there have been some ungainly convolutions as they tried to justify his behavior because they needed his political support to achieve their goals.

Now, with Patricia Ireland's comments--which are interesting because she is saying that perhaps what kind of a man someone is in the way they treat women should be considered when we pick our leaders--that seems to be changing. I can tell you for sure that a lot of women are looking to feminist leaders for guidance on how to view Bill Clinton.

When you threw in the comment about soccer moms I lost you. What am I missing here? I have no desire to disagree with you or argue--there is simply something I don't understand.
