Paul,

Re: "On April 2 - a few weeks form now - the 233 and 266 MHz Pentium II
notebook processors will be announced and delivered."

It is beginning to look like there will be two x86 CPU manufacturers
in the world (at the end of '98) ... Intel and IBM !!! AMD must be going
through a "major change" to their business model to start outsourcing
their K6 design to IBM ... This is an admission that AMD cannot stay up
in the ever increasing costs of the "process development game"

Maybe AMD will just buy the IBM .18um process to bring up in the Dresden
Fab (Soon to be MegaFlop30 (tm)) ?? ... What will SDC be doing ?? ... updating
their resumes ??

Make It So,
Yousef

Your information is wrong. AMD IS LEADING IN HIGH END LAPTOP MARKET See the two web sights below neither show an Intel Tillamook notebook processor being available, in fact none of the ones you mentioned did, I checked it out! The compaq web sight shows the K6 233 in their model 1621 which beats anything available from Intel in regard to laptop processors now. The Intel tillamook must have fallen through the cracks some where Because two of the biggest companies, IBM and Compaq do not have it. If any one does make a pointer to a web site for us all to see!
Here is the one for the compaq 1621 laptop with the K6 233.

Here is the one that shows IBM's best notebooks.

Paul, the Pentium II notebook systems will be complete failures because, although having the same clock speeds as Intel Tillamook systems, they will sell for $500 more than Intel "Tillamook" systems and $1000 more than AMD systems.
