How is the price cheaper for CPQ. A share is a share is a share. The cost to CPQ is in shares not money so I don't see what they save. Please explain it to me.

John; If you will look at this chart you will see what happened
as to the DEC deal.
you said;
<<Richie - This has been hashed over by the thread some time ago, others do think you might be on to something here! The DEC deal is $30 cash + .945 shares of CPQ stock. Bottom line is that the deal is substantially cheaper (to CPQ) now in comparison to when it was announced because there is no provision for adjustments based on the price of CPQ stock. Thing is, we still need DEC shareholders to approve, as the price plunges I suppose this gets more iffy. <<<

Now DEC stock was below cpq, and the nasdaq line..fact is it was
a dead end stock. You had that big run up in DEC..after the
annoucement..by speculators..some of them bought DEC and shorted
CPQ..how nice..and you think the DEC share holders got something
to grip about ! @ no way..
In fact IF DEC don't come down to
earth call the deal off and then watch it plunge back to where
it should be..and would be if not for the deal, every bit off her run up was in relation to this deal..the chart shows that..meanwhile my guess is insiders in DEC have been getting out, let em all get out..untill they do CPQ is getting the short end of the stick.
They don't just get stock you know they get dollars to..if they
are not happy they can lump it. Had DEC not run up so high with
them thinking hey man I can get most of my money back in cash,
and still have CPQ stock..hey lets call off the deal, and
see what happens. CPQ is the only thing that can save DECs
butt, I like the ALPHA and all, but they don't know how to sell
it..and are dying on the vine, now you think they got room
to haggle..hey no way.
Jim
Now some CPQ people may have sold and bought DEC thinking
hey I get CPQ stock back plus cash..if so they got no room
to complain as they created the problem..in respect to the
disparity of the prices..call the deal off, let DEC announce
it's sorry earnings..that they like rats tried to jump to the
other ship..let em yell..
Jim
PS looking at it again it seems prior to the 1/26 announcement
some people with inside information traded DEC up..they need to
lose their jobs..and or go to jail, not complain about the mess
they caused. The DOJ is not involved yet but that could happen.
