I don't understand how limiting functionality is "extending" the API. Sounds like doublespeak.

I'm an HP shareholder, and wish them well, but this sounds like a mistake. What will they do when the ISO issues a standard and HP's stuff doesn't satisfy it?

and they said innovation at HP is dead - maybe HP is becoming more and more like Microsoft - except for the making money part.

Java One starts next week and there will be unprecedented adoption of Java by corporate developers and ISV's - the ones who matter. HP doesnt matter.
