Maxwell - Re: "AMD gets more dice/wafer on the K6"

AS AMD has admitted time and time again, they gey LESS functional K6 die per wafer than Intel gets functional Pentium or Pentium II.

It's simple math - if they got more die/wafer their costs would be lower.

Their costs aren't lower!

AMD PRINTS more K6 die per wafer because the K6 is SMALLER.

AMD throws away MORE K6's per wafer than the keep because more of them are non-functional - dead, muerte, deceased, crapola.

Why do you think AMD is losing money and why do you think that their losses are EXPANDING?

Re: "Thus revenue per wafer for AMD and INTC is about the same. For AMD to make the same revenue per wafer as Intel, AMD would make alot of money."

Does this make sense to you? AMD's revenue/wafer is the same as Intel's (according to you!) and therefore AMD will make a lot of money!

Duuuuuuuuhhhhh - they are LOSING SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF MONEY THIS QUARTER!

Don't you believe everything Jerry Sanders tells you? He's told you, me and the world to expect SUBSTANTIAL LOSSES this quarter!

Paul

K6 outsells PII for the 2nd straight month !!
techweb.com
AMD's Share of Feb PC unit sales was 32.8% down slightly from January
That's 2 out of 3 months for the quarter , of course the ASP will be down . All that is missing now is some higher ASP parts for niche markets such as Notebook and 3D games and AMD will be very profitable ,
