Duncan, Julie Christie is truly a wonderful presence, even in her sixties, facelift or not. But I do think we tend to idealize the stars of old, and do not appreciate the great young ones. Winona Ryder and Uma Thurman and Helena Bonham Carter immediately come to mind as great actresses with adult dignity and staying power. When you were making that remark about Slick and drugs, were you talking about Slick Willie and the cocaine allegations, or Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane?
