To all,

I might have heard it wrong. Did anybody hear CNBC today saying Compaq is reducing some computers to less than $500 to clear inventory?

Thanks,
Richard

Night, there are many companies who, like it or not, are going to upgrade their systems with Y2K compliant equipment IMHO. This is inevitable, I think. This is a serious problem, and it will have to be addressed. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some type of legislation before the end of the year or extremely early next year that makes it *mandatory* for key industries to be compliant. Has Kurlak ever even mentioned the Y2k problem...am I out in left field in seeing this problem as a source of revenue for Compaq?

<<Stock prices should reflect the downturn, hitting new lows this summer as companies grapple with slowing demand, particularly in PCs, Mr. Kurlak said.>

Night Writer, Good article. Still heavy into doom and gloom. However, you have to give credit where credit is due. Intel not making the dramatic gains that we saw two years ago. I sometimes wonder if Kurlak is an example of the 'tail wagging the dog'.

CPQ is slowly turning around in anticipation of future announcements. Will probably stay in this range (25 - 27.5) for the next few days. Good Luck,

Mike
