RE: Shootings
You are somewhat right,in that these are signs of the times. Or could it be a sign of the fact the media is truly in power. Could it have been that if this had happened 5 years ago, there would have been far less said in the media. It has something to do with the way it is reported, the way the media now runs a single story in the ground for a month running. Yes, I agree it is terrible. Somehow though, I think
over reporting may breed even more of these actions.

Bobby,

Re Arkansas shooting... Jonesboro is about 100 miles from me, and I have relatives who live there. I was talking to a teacher at my son's school, and he said that Wednesday all of the older kids (6th, 7th and 8th grade) were totally absorbed by it. Perhaps because it's so close to here, I don't know. My niece (12) told me she was scared to have a fire drill now. A part of you wants to take your kids out of school andmove to the middle of nowhere. I always took my children with me to a neighborhood where our church does work, and my husband said no more... I certainly can't argue with him. As schoolchildren we did things in the same neighborhood, with the nuns at our sides, and that gave me so much, and I want my kids to have the same... such a world this is now. If hard times can give us back our civility, then I wish for it also.

concerning our President... if you are really in the mood to be pensive, try asking some 8,9 and 10 year olds what they think about all of this.
the young ones always have their own unique insights into our 'world events', but consider the view they have of the President, at the age where they are forming ideals they will hold all their life.
