Siemens buys Newbridge and Newbridge turns around and buys Ascend. What do you think of this possibility?

Beach, you're kidding right? Siemens buying NN is definitely possible. But, why would that combo want ASND? Quite a bit of product overlap in ATM. Also, getting awfully expensive at that point.

Maybe you could elaborate, if you were serious????

beach --

NN and Siemens will definitely stick together, though I don't think Siemens would buy them unless as a defensive move. As for where ASND plays into the equation, I haven't a clue. I'll leave that to those who know both companies better than I.

Here's a URL for an article on unbundling that's worth reading:

Hi Pat,I have finally figured out the most probable scenario.
Siemens buys Newbridge and Newbridge turns around and buys Ascend. What do you think of this possibility?

Intersting thought... this could be a win for investors short term but it would be horrible long term for ASND. WHat a mess this would make - a German, Canadian and West Coast company. This would take years to sort through. Cisco would love this one.
