Melissa, sometimes yes, sometimes no. In all seriousness (if you can believe that!) here's what I think. Different stocks get to be the playthings of momentum investors for awhile. The stock moves up at an incredible clip, and then plummets at an incredible clip. It's like musical chairs, with the last one standing is the loser. I view it as meaningless noise. Look at LU as an example.

The problem, as in musical chairs, is that you never know where the stock will be when the mo-mo guys get out. I would also point out that every one of my programming stocks (HBOC, NETA) is getting pummeled.

Regards,

Paul

Melissa, ..Re:<<Hasn't this stock historically taken a little dip right before earnings>>

Chart below shows a slight pullback in price prior to earnings.

Hi, Melissa ... Not much for me to say since others have spoken ..

I do agree with Paul in that PSFT *used* to have a pretty darn good dip before earnings day (and I took advantage of that more than once).
But I don't think this was quite so pronounced last few qtr's and did not happen at least once last year I believe.
===================================================

I have been asleep on the Q1 date but it is Apr 21 as mentioned. Time will be the usual 5pm ET / 2PM PT. I'll probably post the old hotlink again and drive everyone nuts banging on it until PS posts the document.
==================================================

BTW, to add something new ... BAANF is reporting APR 20, and SAP is on with PSFT - Apr 21. SAP is having a world conf. call. In past, SAP's results have been avail. in morning in North America.

For those who keep asking, let's repeat - PSFT does NOT have a conf. call.

Melissa ... more stuff about SAP ...

They have changed stock symbol to 'SAP' in Germany and will list on NYSE as 'SAP' come August this year. Looks like investors here will be buying instruments (ADR's????) which will be like 1/12 a share in Germany. Current OTC trading in SAPHY is 1/3 to 1 share.

If anyone is interested, there is a detailed article on SAP site wherein they describe the impacts of accounting changes due to US GAAP. They re-stated financials for 1996 and 1997. It will be interesting to compare PSFT and SAP now that revenue recognition, etc. sounds like it will be on similar grounds.
