If Starr's tactics are unconstitutional then every police dept. and prosecutor in the country are routinely breaking it because there is nothing he is doing that isn't done 10000 times a day against Joe Six Pack. But then the boy isn't Joe Six Pack as he has reminded us.

Holly, What is worse,

1. Having a President who obstructs Justice, perjures himself, steals FBI files on his political opponents, fires and ruins people's lives to get his buddies into a sleazy job, sells the Lincoln bedroom to the highest bidder, accepts campaign money from foreign interests, gives away the hallowed grounds of the National Cemetery, turns the White House into a bordello, and cheats on his wife apparently as often as most Americans have a cup of coffee.

Or having a prosecutor look into the case?

Not of this would be happening if not for the administrations blatant ignoring of the law. If Reagan had done one tenth of the things this administration has admitted to. A Democratic Congress would have impeached him in half a heart-beat. And the media would have demanded it.

It's not an attack on the Constitution to impeach a sitting President.

Perhaps you know of a better way to build a case against the most powerful person in the country.

I would be very interested in reading it.

Michael

>>the systematic distraction of our nation from matters which are infinitely more important to our current and future well being. Those are the two main things that we should be railing against. <<

100 years from now, history is going to look at the past 5 years as a huge vacuum when Congress and the Executive Branch did nothing but waste millions of dollars and thousands of hours holding politically motivated hearings that had the sole purpose of trying to bring down someone or another. I recall reading an article that analyzed the first 6 months of the new Congress elected in 1996 and one of the most startling facts was the amount of time and money spent by the Senate Finance Committee in the Whitewater investigation as compared to the time and money spent on the substantive issues for which the Committee was created. I don't recall the exact figures, but it was something like 5 to 1 in favor of the Whitewater investigation.

All this funny business has paralyzed the Congress and we will unfortunately have to live with the consequences years down the road.

As always, this is only my opinion.

Holly -- <<It is frightening to me that so many seem to be missing the finer points of our objections>>

I didn't realize that these points were all that fine. And why would you expect lawyers to be more cognizant of these issues ? Their awareness seems to be quite limited to their own spheres of expertise, and not just on SI. The professions tend to produce a high degree of parochialism.

Guess taht leaves US to be keepers of the flame, huh?<G>

CLINTON CONVICTS LIST (3RD EDITION)

Exclusive to Whitewater File/FreeRepublic
March 26, 1998 A WHITEWATER RESEARCHER

Below is my updated list ofÿ Clinton-related friends, colleagues, associates, and related business entities, who have been convicted of crimes, updated through March 26, 1998.ÿ Thirty-eight names, and counting!ÿ The format of the list is that the names are allocated to the various investigative categories, with each individual/entity named and accompanied by a brief description of the relevant crime(s) and a source of the information.ÿ I would like to update this list on an ongoing basis, further detailing precise charges, number of counts, punishment ordered and served, and sources.

For the Third Edition, we have added the names of Clinton Housing Secretary Henry Cisnero's mistress, Linda Jones, and those of her sister and brother-in-law, Patsy Jo Wooten and Allen Wooten. Jones was sentenced yesterday to three and one half years in prison after pleading guilty to at least four federal felonies. The Wootens have pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy each. Cisneros paid hush money to Jones for years, and then allegedly lied about it to the FBI during his cabinet background check. According to media reports, Clinton was well aware of Cisneros's mistress problem before appointing him as Housing secretary, and may have encouraged Cisneros to lie about it. The Wootens participated in financial fraud with Jones to conceal payments from Cisneros. Jones and the Wootens inaugurate the Cisneros category of the Clinton Convicts List.

I am sure my list is not complete. I thought long and hard about several names I ultimately excluded, or did not have enough information about. For example, Hillary Clinton's commodity broker, Red Bone. Bone was penalized by both the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, but I do not know if he was actually convicted of crimes.

Please enter your additions, corrections, and clarifications to the list on the reply string below. I hope to update and re-post this list, perhaps every month or so. I think the list will grow as time goes on.
