I hope you are right that Ebbers, the simple country boy, is mainly an act. I'm not so sure. As far as surrounding yourself with people smarter than yourself -- that might work in small business, but as the leader of one of the largest telecom companies in the world, someone needs to understand all of the parts and be able to lead all of the smart people in the right direction. He hasn't even yet really integrated what he has put together to date, pre-MCI; his job post-MCI is exponentially greater. We are all betting that this guy is capable of learning on the job how to be the czar of all of this, in a dramatically changing, fatally competitive industry. I dunno. This is almost more like being in a cult, than investing...
