you can get it done more quickly than if you move the whole account.

Linda,

I want to move also, and I have heard that Waterhouse is one of the best. I hold a number of options positions out to July and some leaps. Am I effectively locked out of trading them until the move takes place? How long, using your scenario, will it take me to regain access to the account. Or, is it best to turn everything except long-term holdings to cash before the move? Your help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Sam

Off Topic: I recommend both Brown & Co and Waterhouse. It's worth it to move, if there are serious
problems. The trick is to leave a small amount of cash in the account and move only the stocks. Then
you ask for a DTC transfer, which is electronic and fast. When the stocks are gone you can remove
the cash. If you do this as a partial transfer, which it is if you only move the stocks, you can get it
done more quickly than if you move the whole account.

I checked the onlineinvestor site someone else reccomended and Datek gets the second greatest number of positive votes there. There are just these occasional problems with their system. I put in the orders I wanted today (sell Globalink buy National Semiconductor) and don't think it will make a lot of difference.
