Anthony, The FPU hasn't changed in how many years?? AMD is to debut K6-3D by end of May. IDT also announced to debut C6+ with the new 3D MMX instruction sets during this quarter. If IDT could promise to debut the co-ordinate new MMX during this quarter, there is no reasons to believe that Cyrix would be far away. However, it might take Cyrix one or two months longer than IDT since Cyrix need to work on Cayenne and MXi simultaneously. The coming Cayenne and MXi will come with the new pipelined FPU/MMX. I could foresee that Intel would switch market attention from FPU to something else shortly after Cyrix introduces new processors with better FPU.
