You did nothing terrible, penni. Yesterday I had 1 item and went to the express lane which had no one in it and the checker said she couldn't ring me up because the customer before me had to run back into the aisles to pick something up she forgot and the register was still open.

As long as you didn't exceed the maximum number of items and tendered an acceptable form of payment, you breached no rule of express line etiquette.

That woman was a bitch. How dare she malign our dear, sweet penni.

Locking the doors on a convertible has always struck me as a quixotic gesture.

It was a brave thing you did in that checkout lane. Some people mean bidness. I posted this story that I came across on the wires a week or so ago:

Good, Penni!!! It was a public service, calling that woman a bitch!! While I am sure the audacity of her rudeness was lost on the offender herself, I do hope that at some level the people who were standing around realized that it was her, not you, who was totally out of line, because you had committed no "ten items or less" offense.

Doesn't it feel good to express your feelings out loud? It is really an emancipation of sorts, a real RUSH!!!

I do think that our society is rapidly losing touch with common courtesy, and one has to be very careful deciding who might have a gun or a knife when deciding whether to stick up for yourself, or turn the other cheek. The papers are starting to be filled with stories of very minor squabbles that turn violent, now that almost everyone is armed. Perhaps you should have a bullet-proof, clear bubble added to your convertible, like the Pope did, so that you can continue to express your feelings without fear of retribution!
