You might want to party with the BX development teams at Intel
PCD in Folsom before assuming Dell has little technical contribution.

Did you know that during the 12-14 mo. period of BX development, Dell's engineering and validation groups uncoverd as many eratta in the chip as all other companies COMBINED. That's right, over 50% of
all A0-B1 silicon bugs were uncoverd by Dell.

Bugs aside, Dell initiated and drove a number of architectural enhancements. I think the guys at PCD will tell you that Dell is their top validation partner for desktop chipsets.

Don't know about MSFT however....
