Anyway IMO RACE may be close to creating a solution which will allow internet service providers (ISP's) to provide residential internet service to their customers without tieing up phone/fax lines.

In your opinion, they could be contemplating the next cure for cancer but that would be an equally "valuable" opinion. I suggest you look at Ascend, Lucent, Cisco and others with the power to drive standards in voice and data integration using modern equipment. Not the often repeated, proprietary adaptations of outdated modems nor legacy bridges to has-been PBX systems. When is this charade going to end? The virtual corner game is really getting old and this johnny-come-lately focus on IP, after the pump trashed it for about a year, is simply comical.

I think you're right Bill, something was said about a logical, easily deployable solution for "last mile" situations. No details were revealed but it sort of sounded as if they weren't just working on this on their own.
