Redcreek and CSCO, what's going on between them?

Personally, I feel the same way as you. Cable is doomed because it is a shared media. However, xDSL won't take off until the telcos feel the pressure from cable and other broadband medias. For the most part, they don't seem to be excited about xDSL seemingly because it will canablize their T1 business.

Re -- Cable and DSL..

Currently both have their advantages and disadvantages. Cable is broadband with " limited" upstream capability. Both Cable and DSL have infrastructure issues, but these will be resolved a year or 2 from now. There are no "technical" issues that prevent the use of one or the other.

Eventually (more than 2 years), IMO both will co exist, each serving a distinct application (pay per view movies, games, text etc..) and mode of use (couch potato, highly interactive) framework.
