A couple of killer articles that may have missed the thread from CMP Media Publications May 11 Editions:

1. Intel Cancels PIIX6 Chipset Plans (Electronic Buyers News): Intel Corp. has canceled the PIIX6 "south bridge" core-logic chip, which included an interface to IEEE 1394 peripherals, according to confidential documents presented a short time ago to PC OEMs. Intel has advised buyers to select a PCI card or 1394 chip from Adaptec Corp or Texas Instruments Inc. while it develops a "future implementation to facilitate the broad adoption of 1394 technology," documents stated.

2.Fibre Channel - The high speed choice -- This storage option may be the right choice for VARS who need high bandwidth (Value Added Reseller): Excellent discussion of SCSI, SCSII, vs. Fibre Channel.
Presents a very good argument for SCSI being around for a long time due to "backward compatibility" issues with the installed SCSI base, and the complexity associated with switching architectures.

It seems likely that that SCSI will withstand much in the way Ethernet has, despite "better, cheaper, faster" technologies being available. ADPT has SCSI and Fibre Channel covered, so they win either way! Symbios will only enhance this further. Why do you think the FTC is asking for more information from ADPT and Symbios....It'll be a f%^&^$g monopoly. Article's a "must read"

Oh, wait a minute.............we are talking about ADPT here, the stock that only goes down, probably won't exist in a few years. May buy this loser @ $10 - $11 per share 80% off its high.......NOT.

Have a great weekend,

Larry
