Starowl: Is my observation at #2365 , in conformance with your findings regarding the long term. If so, I agree that we are in transition towards that goal.

Beacuse of the technology transition, ADPT has to squeeze the maximum from its old product lines whilst also ramping up new ones. To this extent it will be handicapped vis a vis a Company that has only one state of the art product line.(Fibre or Firewire).I am not sure of ADPT's market share in either of these 2 products.

In addition, the latest acquisition does not line up with the new technology. Because of that, could we see a large write off within a year.

Any discussion of these issues will help to understand where we are headed.

Thx.

I've just been following this stock since the latest capitulation. I've particular responded to the posted that make seemingly uninformed statements about this company being a commodity company with little future. I obviously don't agree, but I am not up to speed enough to argue it out publicly. I'm satisfied for my own needs that I grasp enough of the company and market to know when a good buy low opportunity is in from of me. I'm more concerned about how the general tech selldown will play out.

In the meantime, I just thought it would be of some use to make a list of what this company has going for it in lay terms with a point of view that is not from the company, but an assessment of the market and competition in products that no company website is going to provide.

What I was thinking about was seeing if we could put together a simple lay term collection of all the previous discussions and have in one place a living working document of what is the state of this company by product line. Then all we would have to do is point to the current version of this working document whenever anyone starts talking about how the company is finished if SCSI isn't as hot as it was last year.

Trying to read through all the previous posts which are a mixture of people who know what they are talking about and people that don't won't help me much at this point.

The company website is a resource, but it really doesn't address the competition and the market share questions as well as related tech market developments such as projected peripheral sales, etc. We need to get that together in one place I would think.

Do you follow Smart Modular and have you seen what happened to it on Friday? No wonder Adaptec is down! This is all starting to smell of an industry report saying that computer sales will slow down and so all the card makers that OEM are getting dumped. Any comment?
