Does anyone believe that the EU is requiring a full divesting of UUNET in order to grant approval? This has been rumored many times during the EU investigation. If so, how much does UUNET contribute to current revenue? IMO, WCOM is less attractive without UUNET. However, due to the 1.6B breakup fee, it seems WCOM has painted itself into a corner.

This is a good stock, with or without MCI. I've had the opinion all along that the premium offered for MCI was too high for what had been an industry laggard.

I asked about the undo value of the WCOM/MCIC deal because of quotes like this, from an unnamed source.

''GTE are totally pushing that somebody says (WorldCom CEO) Bernie Ebbers sell UUNet because if Bernie Ebbers is asked to
sell UUNet he'll say the deal (with MCI) is off,'' the source close to the companies said."
