Herb has/had *a problem* with HMTT. Someone backed over his bike. A "good story" might be to find out what happened between Herb and the company. Did someone decline an interview? It would be interesting, but annoying, to pull up his past articles about the company. He has (consistently) said nasty, bad, Moses-pointing-to-evil things about them ~ the whole time they've been doing great. He gradually confirms what one comes to suspect are his wishes for the company. I don't think they pay attention. I did, in the beginning; but now I think someone needs to send Herb flowers.

Herb on TheStreet: Will Western Digital's
Problems Hurt HMT?

By Herb Greenberg
Senior Columnist
6/10/98 8:33 AM ET

Weak-kneed Wednesday:

Can't wait to see: The spin HMT Technology (HMTT:Nasdaq) (one
of this column's old -- ahem -- friends) puts on its outlook now that
Western Digital (WDC:NYSE), one of its largest customers,
prereleased a lousy quarter -- lousy in the form of a loss of at least
$100 million. Western Digital also warned that unless conditions improve,
it may be in technical default of its loans. It blamed the stuffed disk-drive
channel for part of its problem. Meanwhile, HMT's other large customer,
Iomega (IOM:NYSE), continues to wallow.
[snip]

The rest of the column deals with Iomega and Boston Chicken.
