Tom: Nice post. Thanks. I agree on Adaptec's CD software but can it really produce the kind of profits to make a big difference? I'm not sure.

And just to beat that old SCSI horse once more, I noted an article in Network Computing yesterday titled "Lot-cost Intel Servers: You've Come A Long Way, Baby". It reviewed a number of OEM servers on the market and included the following comment:

"Just like processors, disk and disk controller performance has increased over the years. For the most part, SCSI--not IDE (used on most home PCs)--is the preferred disk channel technology for servers. SCSI performs better, supports higher-capacity drives and lets you connect a number of disks on each SCSI channel."
