<< I doubt BA Robertson Stevens cuts TDFX to hold. >>

So do I. I was just making the point that if ANYONE else was to downgrade, they'd be the only one who could do so without looking even more fickle. Of course, I also didn't account for the possibility that someone could initiate with a HOLD. Don't know hold much of an effect that could have, though.

Re: Good ratings

You said:
They issued a strong buy and a very favorable report when the stock was close to $30. Cutting to hold now without some good reasons would make them look pretty fickle.

Well, they already look pretty stupid for issuing that strong buy near $30, now, don't they.

Come on, Don, think like an analyst. Suppose you're the bright boy at BA-RS who's holding the TDFX bag. MONT just cut, and dumped a whole bunch of shares. There's two possibilities:

A: You're in on whatever the deal is that triggered NB-M's cut, and you're also going to cut. But first you get your friends out.

B: You're not in on the deal, and you're going out of your skull trying to find out if the NB-M guys know something you don't. If you find out something, anything material, you also cut. But first you get your friends out.

God bless,
PX
