Has anybody noticed how the shorts are coming out of the woodwork the past two days with all this doom and gloom baloney? It seems like a desperate and futile attempt to hype the stock down. VLSI is undervalued and the short term trend has turned up. If you post on this board, please post your motives and reasoning for being bearish. Are you short this stock?

Layoffs are positive for the stock because it indicates that the company is reducing expenses. Not only that, but this is old news and obviously had no effect on the stock price today (+7/8 as I write this). By the way, I sold a small part of my position today at 17 7/16 but still hold a large position. The reason I sold is because options expire this Friday and I'm not expecting the stock to make much more upside progress in the short term. I'm looking to buy back what I sold on a dip.

Dan

Winston,

Just as the stock tanked late last year, when VLSI was having record quarters, now when the quarter is bleak, the stock has become a lightening bolt. Remember, the money managers are looking 6 months out. And even the small probability of a buyout creates another element. Add one of the lowest valuations of any semi stock, and absolute state of the art wireless technology, and, well, I think you got your advice backwards.

Kim: Good of you to appraise me of that news clip. It some how did not seem right for a Company to make a public disclosure on Force reduction when it claims it does not not know the size or date.

That is likely to rattle a lot of employees.
