TA, Makes sense to me!

Here's another reason Wall St. (and MONT in particular) is out of touch:

The current "hot" issue in the gaming community is id's decision to focus exclusively on multi-player gaming (the "Quake Arena" strategy). In my opinion, the continued rise of multiplayer gaming is _very_ good news for the 3D accelerator market. Multiplayer gaming is what really forces people to upgrade their hardware to "the best." When your friends are spanking your butt and ragging you about it, you'll start thinking/saving/whining for hardware that is as good (or better) than what they have.

Bottom line, this new trend will blur the line between a "hard-core gamer" and all other "gamers" and the overall market will continue growing.

Wall st. is _totally_ out of touch with the role that gaming has in driving domestic PC sales today. To suggest that the market is saturated is comical IMNSHO.

Here's a link to some background on the multiplayer debate:

I want to remind everybody to one thing I already said many times here.
You have to look over the boarder to other countires. I am from Europe and I can tell you that the whole 3dfx mania started much later than in the US. I would say it started after xmas when huge masses of cards were sold. VoodooII was not available in Europe before mid of May.
Also Asia, probably has started later. The saturation will take place much later than in the US. I am talking about several hundred millions of people. The market outside the US is much larger than in the States itself. Secondly, the variety of products of the same kind is smaller in the PC business here. I could observe it with Iomega and Syquest. It almost took two years that the Syjet drive was available in shops whereas the JAZ-drive could be bought in every supermarket.
Once a product is established competitors have a very difficult task to bring their products to market here.

Think about this!!
