Given the fact that the 1.44MB floppy is still in every
computer, I don't see why a widely install zipdrive can
easily be replaced by 200mb disk. In drive business, compatibility
is king.

Compatibility is indeed the reason for the survival of the traditional floppy, but Zip doesn't have a similar status. Zip is popular, but it's not a standard.

The main problem with Zip is that it is no longer competitive with other forms of storage on a price/MB basis. Quite simply, it is obsolescent. Where is the Zip II?

Yes, but like I said before, it very often the case that whenever a company warns of higher than expected losses, and announces big layoffs, it is usually only the start of a long slide down as more and more bad news comes out.

No one knows, of course, if this will be the case with Iomega, but it is a pretty typical pattern.

As for the "interlopers," SI happens to be an open forum, Jock. If you don't like that, then maybe you should set up your own web site. But how many people do you think would show up?

Calling anyone who posts relevant information or questions on a thread an "interloper" just because you don't want them there is a crock, Jock.

Happy Investing!

Are you sure? I thought I saw that the latest Apple doesn't come with a floppy, it has a CD instead.
