The real point is that, while I believe that past performance should be considered, I would caution people about placing undue reliance upon this single criterion in determining 'potential' or 'expected' future performance. The title, as well as much of the conversation, does in fact either center on or touch on this single point. What ever happened to the previous company? I know a lot of people who have had, like me, both major successes and major failures in business. I would want each opportunity judged on its merits, not a past event.
