Eric..A question.

It seems that wstl has custom catered a product line for BEL. I mean why would wstl develop a CAP/DMT DSLAM with everyone in the Industry doing DMT???

With CAP BEL can wait for pricing for DMT. Ready to deploy now. Isn't there still a risk that ALA can deliver. I mean with all the darn biz ALA has. BEL can dominate wstl. If BEL is planning to migrate wouldn't they want to deploy a DSLAM that will migrate to DMT..

How without wstl would ALA solve the RT??? Without wstl wouldn't ALA have to build a cabinet outside the RT to house their solution??What about intergrating ADSL into the e5ss switches???

I can't imagine BEL dumping on wstl for the DMT contract??

<The street will realize this tomorrow and we will see a build up in positive volume.>

Im still for some of those next day clears myself but the black candle yesterday surprised me a little.

<1) LU makes stock bid for WSTL to commence in October. Deal gets announced Aug 3>

This one is what I have in mind & others probably wouldn't want to jump in and play ball @ that point but below happens as they need Wstl solutions also.

<Alcatel makes bid for Westell. The timing fits with announcement of DSC buyout. Alcatel won't jepordize not getting into the region with just DSC. Westell is that insurance policy for their multi-billion dollar investment. LU responds.>

<3) The third suitor is NEC America. Westell follows Benton. The deal gets announced on Aug 3. NEC Stock transaction involving American ADRs.>

Now Ill have to hand it to ya here Eric. Wouldn't that rock the ADSL world. Hey, maybe Nec could make a cap/dmt/vdsl mahompa. <G>

Adds

Fujitsu as an outside consideration

CS ain't gonna make it w/ Ariel but probably don't know it

Pair sittin on some cash gets a WSTL/AMTX type screwing in the process. :}

Coms sure ain't saying much. They are more likely to go after AWRE as a means to secure a standard. Kinda says something of the old Amati joust.

Nortel if customers get burned w/ CDSL

My Guess:

Eric -

Here's my guess for who will buy Westell : TLAB

They're in the same geographic location, and are in related fields. TLAB is obviously trying to get to "gorilla" status as fast as it can, to compete with LU et al. WSTL would fill a niche or two.

Five shares of WSTL for one share of TLAB. That would be a 50% premium over Westell's current price.

This is total conjecture, BTW.

It also wouldn't make me very happy. At all.

Steve

Eric...How do you make this stuff up?

<The street will realize this tomorrow and we will see a build up in positive volume.

Here are my guesses in order of highest probability.
1) LU makes stock bid for WSTL to commence in October. Deal gets announced Aug 3 . Benton moves on because he knows he will have no job soon. No connection between NEC America and Westell.... etc, etc , etc.>
