Chuca, All of these people speak of burning the resin to get the gold and thus are not the usual ion exchange columns where you can regenerate the resin in place. If they permanently react they might just be full of steel wool and not use resins. True, gold is so valuable compared to resin that you can afford to burn it but the usual resin systems are regenerable. Even activated carbon is regenerated (at some expense I might add) and carbon is cheap cheap compared to resin.
More details needed.
