Rs, < Sure we bitched about advertisements that interrupted>
When I was a little boy I loved Ozzie&Harriet. Back then, I had to watch/listen to the commercial. Now I have 150 channels so, when I get the commercial, I just change channels and hope like hell, I get back in time.

>>"How much of what that book or computer product cost is advertising expense."

People don't care and will never care about that. People care about four things: price, selection, convenience, and experience. That's it. They don't care how much went into advertising, or store maintanance, or paper, or publisher overhead, or anything else.

If Amazon offers the best price in the most convenient way, buyers will buy whether advertising is 20% or 90% of overhead.
