Lazarre:

My little "arsenal" as you call it is indeed under lock and key. I remove the firing pins and bolts from the rifles. The handgun, firing pins, bolts and and ammo are locked up in a special safe so that no harm comes to anyone by accident. I'm the only one with the combo for the safe. Even my wife doesn't know it (and if you knew me better you'd know what a wise decision keeping the combo from my wife is). But seriously, the children have been instructed about the dangers of firearms just as we instructed them about the fireplace, electric sockets, sharp knives, etc., etc. A gun is an inanimate object, a tool no better than the person standing behind it.

Neither I nor my home is under siege. I carry the handgun for personal protection as I often am required in my line of work to conduct public auction sales where I may have large sums of cash and checks on my person following the sale. Also, I live a rural area without a large police presence.

The rifles, a .22 and a deer rifle, I sue for target shooting and deer hunting respectively. I grew up in a military family and guns have always been part of the landscape. I was on the rifle team in college and I enjoyed the competitive aspect. (I also played rugby and baseball).

Now you have the story. Why don't you tell me why I'm all wet? JLA
