As discussed before, this would be a interesting regulatory decision. I'm not so sure the authorities would dismiss such a combination outright. Possibly, possibly not? With MSFT as the next largest competitor TLC/CD could argue that they are up against the premier software company in the world with virtually infinite resources.

I think MSFT would have a tougher regulatory problem trying to acquire TLC or CD, but even this would be an interesting debate.

At any rate, who know's.....maybe well get to see one of these combo's play out in real life.

Sorry to disagree, but did you happen to notice who is third on that list? The FTC may act concerned, but in the back of their minds, my bet is they would like nothing better. Significant competition for MSFT is the holy grail.

I'm not saying TLC will go after them or even that Cendant will put the division up for sale - just that if it should be available, TLC will buy it and the FTC will pass it. BTW, I'm not the only one who thinks this - and I'll leave it at that.
