Bill or George, being as someone else has brought up my "if" from yesterday, I" will' ask another question . I keep hearing that gold is following the yen, so that would fit the "plan". If such a thing were about to happen and the Japanese wanted to make some of there "trillion" bad debt back, they would be very heavy in the gold derivitives and possibly mining stocks. Any indication of this?
What kind of money is involved in futures and options in the gold market? What profit potential would result from 4 or 6 hundred gold if they had a large position in these? Would all the yen borrowed for the gold carry trade, come out of treasurys and back to Japan raising the value of the yen and instilling confidence in it's people. I imagine the people of Japan would bring there money home and out of U.S. Investments also. Thanks Mike

From USA Gold's "News & Views" newsletter:

A COUPLE NOTABLE QUOTES:

"Belgium's Finance Minister, Phillipe Maystadt, was quoted earlier this month as saying that his nation was considering the sale of more of its Gold reserves. He was shocked to find his name being used to push Gold lower. He called a special news conference, and said that he actually told reporters that Belgium had completed its Gold reserve sales--and had no plans to sell any more..the price of the metal had been pushed lower by close to $10 an ounce, due to those FALSE NEWS STORIES. Unfortunately, the financial media decided to ignore retractions..."

Keep in mind the Japanese have always said that one day they would do to us financially what they were unable to do militarily.

I watch quite a few gold indicators. Here is an Elliot Wave opinion and his record so far can't be dismissed!I spoke with a Prector employee last January and so far he is on the money. As I recall he believed we would see an upward trend start in February 1999.
