First of all, Bob, I would like to thank you for bringing the "Independent Newspaper" to my attention. I was not aware of its existence previously. I will personally continue to monitor it in the future. Now, about the article dated July 29th. . .Sorry Bob, but you made a serious gaffe. And I understand your reluctance to own up to it. As a "reputable" investigator and reporter of stocks and market news, It is embarrassing to have to admit having committed an "Arnett". I, for one, figure out the holes in the article on the first reading! Let's just analyze the article, shall we? First of all, the article is dated July 29th. Therefore, it was written absolutely no later than July 29th and most likely sometime prior to July 29th. (Remember, it is NOT a daily paper!) Since it was written PRIOR to July 30th, all questions and comments had to be in reference to events PRIOR to July 30th! (This is not rocket science here. . .I know, Bob, you being "a newspaper man" and all. . .it's sometime difficult to admit you are incapable of seeing into the future and reporting on these sights.) Now, remember, newspaper articles contain interpretations of the writer! This is VERY important as we analyze the article. . .and is evident from the start! Be careful NOT to rely on these interpretations. . .Finance Minister Julius Timothy denies that government plans to open its own world virtual casino Timothy denies plans to open casino? Gee, what did he say?"I categorically deny signing any agreement with Global Games Corporation," said Minister of Finance Honourable Julius Timothy. You DENY there is any SIGNED agreement? What date is it? Oh, that's right. . it's sometime prior to July 30th! OK. . .GLOW denies having any signed agreement as well!"I have a proposal from them which I am looking at and nothing has been decided. Well. . .wait a minute! If you have no "PLANS TO OPEN (YOUR) OWN WORLDWIDE CASINO" (see first line of the article) then WHY on earth are you even looking at the friggin' proposal???? And what is to be decided??? According to the first line (the REPORTER'S INTERPRETATION), the decision has already been made!! Gee, could the reporter have, in his zealousness, put words in Timothy's mouth? Gee, never seen that before! I have not even taken it to Cabinet." Do you PLAN on taking it to the cabinet? AND, more importantly, what was the date and time of your statement. But contrary to Mr. Timothy's denial, the Minneapolis Business Wire of July 7th, 1998 states, "Global Games was first contacted by Mr. Julius C. Timothy, Minister of Finance, Industry and Planning for the Commonwealth of Dominica, about building a virtual world casino in Dominica. Global Games subsequently sent a formal proposal to Mr. Timothy to build the 'Virtual World Casino and Sports Book of Dominica, West Indies." How does this contradict Mr. Timothy's "denial"??? Two things are stated here. . .Mr. Timothy initiated the contact (don't see any denial of this) and GLOW sent a "formal proposal" to Mr. Timothy. Mr. Timothy ADMITTED having proposal in HAND!!! How is this denied??? (Sheeesh newspaper people are stupid. . .er. . .ignorant!)(Read the press release here) Wait a minute!! You SPECIFICALLY refer to the JULY 7th RELEASE and you have a link to the July 30th release? Gee, could the web administrator made a mistake? Naw! They're less fallible than newspaper people!Yada. . .Yada. . .Yada. . .about GLOW's July 7th press release. Gee more references to the July 7th press release! Gosh, no evidence THERE that the web administrator made a mistake! Chief Executive Officer of the six internet gaming operations here told The Independent that he also heard that Government was considering the establishment of its own internet gambling operation. Mr. Emmanuel M. De Riqueza, President and CEO of Global Online Business Inc., in Dominica told The Independent of the Government's involvement in direct internet gaming, "It doesn't hurt me in anyway, because this Government allows any and every body to establish an off-shore company, apply for gambling licences, so there will come in the future many different competitors, better or worse." Gee, the CEO of the other internet gaming operations is even aware of the Government's intent to get into the business. Of course, he's wrong also!Yada. . .Yada. . .Yada. . .about how ticked off the CEO is at the government about the government's intent. Gee, Mr. CEO. What are you so ticked off about? According to the reporter's interpretation, the government has no such intentions! And we all know how infallible reporters are! The only way someone could NOT see through the holes in this article are if they don't WANT to. They're as plain as day!! GO BIG RED!! BTW, Thanks for all the congratulations offered for the birth of my daughter! She and mom are doing absolutely spectacular (except for the lack of sleep).
