Jack:

Sorry about the late reply. Just back from Maui.

I gave a seminar to our Computer Science and Engineering graduate students in February 1998 on engineering modeling and technical analysis.

In my talk I presented four engineering models: dynamics, digital
signal processing, biological systems, and human brain.

Also I listed several challenging topics for research. One was back
to more basic indicators but reexamine the way we describe the stocks.
Stocks such as CPQ, INTC, TECD, moves up and down more often and have close fractal dimensions (I actually used a simple technique based on Richardson representation).

Some people try to use very complex indicators but extrapolation is extrapolation, complex formulas may be not the way to go. I suggested
that we looked at simpler indicators but find a group of stocks for
the simple indicators.
