Based on previous uptrend, we could have another week to go up.

Apologies for the weather forecast on this thread.

My analysis (autocorrelation, Bollinger Bands) shows that it could push $40 or $41 tomorrow. However, that would be running into strong resistance and the next move would be down. Isn't this a nice double top?

Phil, looks like some stores in Japan will be selling iMacs but no other computers, which is a cool concept, frankly.

nikkeibp.asiabiztech.com

I don't think there's any way Apple could manufacture 600,000 iMacs by the end of the quarter, but I could see 400,000. I wonder how many stores are even going to have machines available this Saturday? That is, how many stores will get more than they've already presold? However, I'm sure they will set up a demo machine which will lead to more preorders and when more machines come in the next week those will be gone and then the cycle continues ...

I believe $42 is the old resistance level. I'm not sure if Apple has gone up too far, too fast. July 16th was almost a month ago so we've had time to digest the mid-June to mid-July gains. Overbought? Maybe, but there are good reasons for that and as you point out, the buzz should continue. We've got Apple ads, we've got the G3 refresh tomorrow, we've got Apple as a safety stock in this time of market upheaval, and hey, we're actually shipping the damn thing on Saturday!

If i remember my Tech. Analysis 101 class correctly, AAPL just broke out from a "high-tight flag" formation and you can get some very powerful moves up from an HTF, so i wouldn't be surprised if we continue higher.

If we calculate 150,000 pots sold in one week, which probably doesn't include international data, then it's easy to reach 400,000-600,000 pots in this quarter only,

I don't mean to throw a monkey wrench into the cogs of your hype machine Phil, but to try and extrapolate iMac sales from 1 weeks worth of pre orders is absurd. First of all, the one week of preorders represent 3 months of pent up demand since the announcement. Second, I have to question whether or not Apple could make 150,000 iMacs a week and still be making other computers. Third, it is certain that a significant number of the 150,000 are school orders which wont be coming in on a monthly basis. Forth, the customers who will buy a Mac without ever even seeing it are of a completely diferent kind the those who Apple will have to reach in the following months.

I am not saying iMac sales wont be kickass. Im just saying that if you try and estimate them based on pre orders then your methodology is flawed from the start. And if you're right it will have been 100% coincidence.
