Yes, the big basic fact is that Storage people such as Seagate (the largest dd maker) put the 'ol FC on storage. This means EVERYTHING. The disk drive people such as WD, QNTM, IBM, and Fujitsu are following suite I believe. These are the same people who made SCSI commoditized. Should I mention ALL the larger server and storage companies? ;-)

The regular ol' network WILL connect to the storage network soon, too...we have been reading here about how many companies are working on FC-Ethernet bridges already.

I don't think i'll bring up Qos, csma, scalability, overhead, collisions, etc... ;-)

i think that article is a joke. then again, i thought we'd see Sans by now. ;-)

all imho

George,

<Hardly an unbiased article>

I thought so too, but I also think that the bias may exist in many IT shops, simply because GE is now more familiar and FC demands new understanding. The columnist's opinion reflects more on his lack of knowledge about FC than an outright bias towards GE. If anything, his bias is towards the already known vs the unknown. An all too prevalent human trait. Blue chips, anyone?
